This policy covers SayPrivate for Mac and SayPrivate for iPhone (together, "SayPrivate" or "the App"). SayPrivate is built so that we never receive your voice or your text. There is no SayPrivate account and no SayPrivate server that receives your recordings or transcripts. The developer does not collect, store or have access to your recordings or transcripts.
Before its first use, and again whenever you change models, the App tells you that it uses on-device AI: speech recognition (NVIDIA Parakeet or Apple SpeechAnalyzer) and text cleanup (Apple's on-device language model, or Qwen3 through MLX if you choose it). Everything runs on your device; nothing is sent to any company.
You can export any transcript (Markdown, plain text, SRT or JSON) and delete a single item, all data on the device, or all data in iCloud from Settings in the App. Deleting the App removes its local data. iCloud data can also be removed in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage on iPhone, or System Settings > [your name] > iCloud on Mac. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing further for us to delete.
The SayPrivate keyboard only inserts text that you dictate. It requests Full Access solely to pass the dictated text from the SayPrivate app to the keyboard through a shared container (App Group) on your iPhone. The keyboard makes no network connections and does not record, store or transmit what you type.
On Mac, SayPrivate uses Accessibility permission only to insert your dictated text into the app you are using. If insertion falls back to the clipboard, SayPrivate pastes the text and then restores your previous clipboard. It does not read or store the content of other apps.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details. Subscription offers are shown by Superwall, which receives anonymous device and paywall-interaction data (for example device model, OS version, locale, and which plan was viewed or purchased) to display the offer and confirm a purchase. It never receives your name, email, audio or transcripts.
The Mac app is sold directly through Dodo Payments or Gumroad, which act as the seller or payment processor. When you buy, they collect your email address and payment details under their own privacy policies; we receive your email address and order details from them to deliver and support your license. The Mac app sends your license key to the Dodo Payments or Gumroad license API to validate it, and caches the result on your Mac so it works offline. No audio or text is ever sent with it. The 7-day trial needs no key and sends nothing.
The direct-download Mac app opens our purchase page (hosted on Cloudflare Pages) when you choose to buy or to get a free week. To give each Mac and iCloud account only one free week, and so that a free week works only on the Mac that asked for it, the app sends two one-way hashes (SHA-256): one of your Mac's hardware identifier and, if you use iCloud, one of your iCloud user identifier for SayPrivate. The original identifiers cannot be recovered from these hashes and never leave your Mac. With the purchase page the app also sends a random one-time code that lets it pick up the license key after you pay.
To have the stored hashes deleted, contact us through the contact form; a deleted hash can then be issued a new free week.
Speech recognition and text cleanup run on your device with models that are downloaded once. The Parakeet speech model and, only if you choose it in Settings > Models, the Qwen3 cleanup model are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), which sees your IP address and a standard download request, like any website you visit. Apple's speech models are downloaded by the system from Apple. No audio, transcript, dictionary word or account detail is sent with these downloads, and after them SayPrivate works offline. You can delete the downloaded models in Settings > Models.
If you contact us through the contact form on this site, we receive the name, email, platform and message you enter and use them only to reply to you and to invite you to early access if you asked for it.
SayPrivate is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Because your recordings and transcripts are held only on your devices and in your own iCloud, you can access, export and delete them yourself at any time.
